Comparison - ad words
It took a while, but we did eventually find a firm that was making money through placing Ad Words advertisements on Google. Much must depend on these factors
- The industry
- The competition
- The key words you pick
- What you offer
If you are in an area of work where there are not too many web sites and not too many people around offering information and guidance, you might well find that you are the only people to have bought specific ad words. This means that your payment can be very cheap (no one is higher than you on the Ad Words list because no one has bid more). It also means that anyone finding you will be thrilled, because they will have been searching hard.
Of course the key words you pick are vital - if you pick them in too general a fashion you get lots of hits you don't want - and too specific means you don't get enough to make it worthwhile.
Equally important is the offer. Offer something free means you get hundreds or thousands of people downloading your free offer, for which you have to pay Google each time. But you probably don't get many people buying from you. Sometimes it can work, but be careful.
One of the best ways to proceed is to type in what you consider to be the main words that you might use if you take out Ad Words, and then see how many of your competitors are there ahead of you. Then, if there are many, you might want to experiment with some other words which are requested perhaps by fewer people, but which are cheaper to get, and have less competition. You might as a result get more people who really have an interest in you, and who have by-passed the key phrases and so by-passed your rivals.
